The most beautiful thing | Naomie De Lorimier
“EN/ The most beautiful thing is to take the risk of meeting yourself. Alone in nature with my VHS camera, last summer (2020), I captured images of the landscape unified to my body on magnetic tape. Engaging daily rituals, I went to meet the sky, the insects, the river, the trees, the sun, the clouds, the wind, the birds, the thunderstorms, the aquatic plants, the rain, the rocks, earth and flowers, in order to let them get inside me. I did most of the editing by hand during the shooting, playing with the mirror effect of the image alternating between the inside and the outside of my body. The camera reflects me like the surface of the pond (étang) as I dive into the depths. Being there (étant), I float in a nature filled with magic and melt into it. On the sound of the video are added six songs, written a year earlier, in the heart of an unexpected loneliness during a hot summer. Recorded alone accompanied by my guitar. FR/ La plus belle chose c'est de prendre le risque de se rencontrer soi-même. Seule en nature avec ma caméra VHS au mois de juillet dernier (2020), j'ai capturé des images du paysage unifié à mon corps sur la bande-magnétique. Sous la forme de rituels quotidiens, je suis allée à la rencontre du ciel, des insectes, de la rivière, des arbres, du soleil, des animaux, des nuages, du vent, des oiseaux, des orages, des plantes aquatiques, de la pluie, des roches, de la terre, de la rosée, des champignons et des fleurs, afin de les laisser rentrer en moi. J'ai effectué le montage à la main lors du tournage, m'amusant à jouer avec l'effet miroir de l'image qui alterne entre l'intérieur et l'extérieur de mon corps. La caméra me reflète comme la surface de l'étang alors que je plonge dans les profondeurs. Être étant, je flotte dans la nature pleine de magie et me confond en elle. Au son de la vidéo, se superposent six chansons écrites un an plus tôt, au cœur d'une solitude inattendue lors d'un été chaud. Enregistrées seule accompagnée de ma guitare.
